Where my journey from aviation safety to predictive management began.
aim4safety was founded by Kerstin Mumenthaler to bring the principles of professional aviation safety, risk management and resilience into organisations and General Aviation.
Origin
It started with safety.
Kerstin came to this work from the flight deck. Professional aviation teaches a particular way of thinking, and it has surprisingly little to do with aircraft.
Pilots and safety organisations do not simply react to accidents. They build systems designed to detect risk early, to read weak signals, and to intervene while there is still room to act. Data, procedure and human judgement are treated as one system. The working assumption is that something will eventually go wrong — so the discipline lies in noticing it first.
aim4safety was created around that philosophy: to take the structure that keeps commercial aviation safe and make it usable elsewhere — in organisations, and in General Aviation, where the same risks exist but rarely the same systems.
Safety is not the absence of risk. It is the ability to recognise and manage risk before it becomes a problem.

Use data, patterns and experience to anticipate problems and act before they materialise.
This principle began with aviation safety. It continues to shape how Kerstin thinks about management, governance and technology today.

An airline pilot by training, Kerstin has spent her career moving between the flight deck and the organisations behind it: airline flying, aviation safety and risk management, aircraft management, entrepreneurship and aviation technology. She holds an EASA and FAA ATPL and has logged more than 6,500 flight hours.
aim4safety was her first independent venture, and the place where much of this thinking was first written down.
